What we do

Fundraising

We hold and support various fundraising events throughout the school year. Starting in November, with our spectacular bonfire night held in conjunction with Sturminster Marshall Golf Club.

For the past 2 years we have held a book fair which has allowed us to buy over £1000 worth of books for the school.

On May day the school children take part in the traditional may pole dancing on the may pole green in the village, where we provide some refreshments, amongst other things.

On sports day we provide cake and refreshments for parents and ice lollies for all the kids who take part in the days activities.

At the end of June we organise and run the school Summer Fair, which is great fun for adults and children alike.

Using the schools swimming pool, all pupils take part in a Swimathon giving them a chance to show the skills that they have learnt in their swimming lessons throughout the summer term.

What we pay for

Our priority is supporting the school to provide great learning experiences for the children. Some of the things that we have been able to contribute to includes Maths No Problem work books for KS2. We have provided money towards the new climbing frame in the playground. At the end of the year, we pay for the transport for the whole school trip.

At Christmas we go big or we go home. We provide decorating materials for the kids to create Christmas decorations. We also hold our own version of The Great British Bake Off allowing all the children to make and decorate their own Christmas cake. In the final week of the Winter term, we invite a pantomime company into the school to perform to the kids in the morning to be followed by a Christmas party in the afternoon. All of this Christmas chaos is kicked off by a festive disco.

Moving into the summer term, we prepare the swimming pool for opening after the Easter holidays. The School Society takes responsibility for keeping the swimming pool clean, warm and well maintained. The swimming pool is a massive asset to the school, and something that the School Society take pride in; because of this, every child in the school has access to swimming lessons, which is an incredibly precious facility.
