Rock Detectives

Swallow class have become rock detectives over the last couple of weeks. We have been learning about The different types of rocks, the causes for erosion and change in rocks. The children have worked so hard and produced some lovely rock cycle posters!

Our topic has been focusing on Mary Anning and the amazing fossil discoveries she found! We have been researching all the different fossils she discovered and different locations around the world. Swallow class have created some great fact files, indicating why she is so significant!

After looking and researching fossils, we decided to try and create our own. The children made their own salt dough and printed real fossils into them - after we baked them the children brought them home for you to see!

We have been amazed by all the amazing things we have learnt since becoming detectives, we are excited to find out even more throughout the rest of this half term! I wonder if you have spotted any interesting rocks or fossils down the beach?
