Sturminster Marshall First School

Grow, Achieve, Inspire, Nurture. SMFS where learning is an adventure.

Robins Class WB 25/05&02/04

We have had a very busy couple of weeks since returning to school!

In the first week back, we practised our Maypole dancing before performing it on Friday and then on the bank holiday! We all really enjoyed learning the dances and looked forward to our practise sessions outside! We wanted to thank all of the lovely adults that volunteered their time to help us!

In Maths we have been exploring division and then fractions - making halves and quarters of shapes and numbers. We have found this quite tricky but with a positive attitude have been stretching our brains and helping them grow.

In English we have been reading our new book Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers and using it as inspiration for lots of different sentence types such as noun phrases (the small, black penguin) and similes (the birds were as white as snow). This is all in preparation for writing our own versions of the narrative at the end of the unit.

In PHSE we have been learning about positive relationships. Building good relationships with our families, our friends, our classmates and most importantly ourselves. We finished our learning on this by creating a picture to describe what makes each of us incredible!

As part our safety curriculum we will be having a special visitor next week to talk to us about sun and sea safety!

You may have seen our plants growing in the window! They are getting really big and we will be repotting them outside next week.

We have really been enjoying getting outside and exploring the forest school area - photos are on the forest school blog.
