Sturminster Marshall First School

Grow, Achieve, Inspire, Nurture. SMFS where learning is an adventure.

Fun around the fire!

The children learnt about more suffixes this week in english (er and est) and continued with making different amounts of money in maths. Jackson Pollock was an artist who used different shades to create a 'mood' painting. The children enjoyed learning about different techniques and ideas in art.

It was Burns afternoon in forest school. It began with poetry, riddles and jokes around the campfire. The children used peelers to take off the bark on sticks (I was very impressed with their capabilities), made weaving creations (linked to tartan), used the axe and explored the woods further. Finally they enjoyed cheesy potatoes and a 'scottish' drink whilst learning about Robert Burns.
