Friday 4th February
In Maths this week we have been learning how to partition two digits numbers (up to 20) into tens and ones and then use this to break down difficult subtraction equations such as 18 - 15!
In English we have used everything we've learnt from The Odd Egg by Emily Gravett to write character descriptions, diary entries and even advice letters. Finally we have finished turning notes about different eggs into sentences and then writing these into our books.
This week, in the afternoons, we have been focusing on D&T and working on the skills needed to design and make an alien puppet. We practised fixing two pieces of fabric together using staples and glue before cutting out the pieces needed to create the puppet's body. Look at the wonderful puppets we've made! They've been sent home today (Friday) but the glue may be a little wet!
We have just finished learning about the countries of the United Kingdom so you could test your child's memory at home by asking them to name all the countries, their capital cities and even some facts such as the national flower for each country.
Next week, we will begin learning about animals including humans in science.
