Friday 19th November
Hello Everyone,
In Robins class this week we have been thinking all about the theme for Kindness Week which is ‘One Kind Word’. We have been taking part in lots of group discussions about what it means to be a kind friend and how to look after each other.
The culmination of our kindness week activities was Children in Need day and we learned all about where the money goes from our fundraising and how it helps all of the children in the UK. Robins have had a go at drawing their own Pudsey on a whiteboard by following along to an instruction video and even had a visit from the big yellow bear himself! Unfortunately, the iPad that Miss Badger used to take the photos has decided to stop working!
In Literacy, we have started a new book called I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen and much like Naughty Bus this has really captured the imaginations of all the Robins. We are exploring asking and writing questions and answering them in full sentences, using the suffix –ing and prefix un-, writing letters and lists before finally writing a sequel to the story. We have really enjoyed role-playing as different characters from the story and using our imaginations to talk about how they might be feeling, what they are thinking and what might happen next.
In Art, we have been designing and making Diwa lamps, which we will paint next week and then bring home. Robins have found the story of Rama and Sita interesting and this has tied into our Geography work learning about India and comparing the country to the UK. Similarly, we have been making and tasting various Diwali treats as part of our D&T. Some of the things we have made were more popular than others but everyone has been very brave and tried everything.
