Sturminster Marshall First School

Grow, Achieve, Inspire, Nurture. SMFS where learning is an adventure.

14th-25th March

Woodpeckers have been working hard over the last two weeks. It's been great to get out in the sunshine for our P.E sessions. The class have been working on their sending and receiving skills and moving into spaces in game situations. We even had time to squeeze in a pilates session working on our core muscles and balance. The children were very calm afterwards!

We have been writing poetry in Literacy based on 'The Owl and the Pussycat'. The class have been thinking up their own verbs to add into the classic poem. We've had some fabulous modified versions which will be going up on display soon.

In maths we have been using lots of materials to aid understanding in division. The class worked well using base tens to solve problems when dividing by 10.

In PSHE this week we have been looking at how we can group different food types and making the right choices to keep ourselves healthy.

We have been heading out to observe the microhabitats that we created previously to see if any critters have made themselves at home inside. We will be heading out as much as possible to observe so let's hope this lovely sunshine continues for the rest of the term!
