Looking to the future…

With sport at the heart of our school we look forward to developing it further. After discussions with staff and children there are many things we are considering for the coming year:

  • We are very much hoping to work further with Sturminster Marshall Golf Club after the resounding success it has been this academic year. Everyone involved enjoyed the festival so much and we would love to continue the link we have with them and plan more future events together.
  • The children really enjoyed competing against other schools in the Golf Festival. Both the staff and children have agreed we would really like to set up more opportunities for inter-school competition in the future.
  • After carefully planning our topics and overview for the year, the staff expressed how they would like to link their PE more to the topics and requested support with cross-curricular links for PE. We are very lucky to have extensive grounds here so it would be very beneficial to have them mapped and use them for orienteering in PE lessons and to link PE to the KS2 Geography Programmes of Study.
  • After successfully reviewing our Dance and purchasing and trialling a new scheme teachers were wondering if this would be beneficial to support the planning and delivery of gymnastics. A possible focus could be for monitoring and observations of our current provision by the subject leader to see if this would be beneficial for our school.
  • Subsidise bikeability again this year.

All in all exciting times to come for Sturminster Marshall First School.
